Abel Brambila, the founder of El Rinconsito, a Mexican restaurant chain with a location in Burien, has died, the company announced.
He was 53.
El Rinconsito shared news of Brambila’s death in a social media statement expressing grief and offering condolences to his family and loved ones. The company did not provide additional details about his death.
“With deep sorrow, the entire family of El Rinconsito mourns the passing of our beloved founder, Abel Brambila,” the company said.
Brambila and Lupe Guzmán started El Rinconsito 29 years ago, turning their idea into what the company described as a large family built through effort, dedication and love.
“Today we bid farewell to the man, but his example, his story, and the legacy he built will remain forever in every corner of El Rinconsito and in the hearts of those who had the joy of knowing him,” the company said.
El Rinconsito also offered support to Brambila’s family and loved ones, adding, “May God grant them strength in this difficult moment.”
El Rinconsito traces its beginnings to Kent, where Guzmán, the owner of a successful lunch truck, invited Brambila to join him in bringing traditional Mexican food to the area in 1997. The company opened its first taqueria in Kent and later expanded to Burien, building an early following through support from the region’s Mexican community. El Rinconsito now lists seven restaurants in South King County, including locations in Burien, Kent, Auburn, Federal Way and Renton.
