An elderly woman was shot and killed in her Burien home overnight, the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) confirmed Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024.

Police said that around 12:20 a.m., Burien Police/KCSO Deputies responded to a report of multiple gunshots at a residence on the 1000 block of South 130th Place (map below).

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that several rounds had struck a home.

Deputies located a female, in her 80’s, inside the home. She had suffered at least one gunshot wound.

Deputies and medics immediately started life-saving measures, but sadly, the victim did not survive.

While numerous evidence markers were visible outside the home, suggesting the possibility that the shots may have been fired from outside, authorities have not confirmed this detail.

Currently the King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating this incident.  There have not been any arrests made and no suspects have been identified.

As this is an active and open criminal investigation, this is all the information police have released so far.
