Fire crews from King County Fire District #2 – with assistance from neighboring jurisdictions – were dispatched to a residential fire in Burien’s Gregory Heights neighborhood on Saturday afternoon, Mar. 9, 2024 at around 5:16 p.m.

On arrival to the house on SW 162nd Street, firefighters found the main floor of the home to be 100% involved.

Reports were that heavy smoke from the blaze could be seen as far away as West Seattle.

A basement to the home was uninvolved during the initial fire attack.

“Based on the volume of fire, firefighters attacked the flames from the exterior of the home at first,” Ray Desmarais, Fire Marshal for King County Fire District #2 told The B-Town Blog. “After getting an initial knockdown of the fire the crews were able to move to an offensive attack from the interior of the home.”

No injuries were reported, but the Red Cross was contacted for three adults and three children.

The origin and cause investigation is currently underway by the King County Fire Investigation Unit.
