Firefighters from King County Fire District No. 2 responded Wednesday morning, Nov. 27, 2024, to a fire behind the Centenario Mexican Restaurant at 630 SW 153rd Street (map below).

Initially reported as an illegal burn, the blaze spread to an exterior alcove before crews arrived. Puget Sound Fire and the Port of Seattle provided mutual aid.

The fire, which breached the alcove walls and reached the interior of the restaurant space – at the former home of Bison Creek Pizza – was quickly extinguished.

Nearby businesses sustained smoke exposure and required ventilation to clear affected areas.

No injuries were reported, as all businesses in the building complex were closed at the time and unoccupied.

Officials said that arson is being investigated as the possible cause of the blaze.

“The case is being investigated by the King County Fire Investigation Unit and the hope is the many cameras in the area will assist in identifying the responsible party,” Ray Desmarais, Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal for KCFD 2 told The B-Town Blog.
