John William (“Bill”) Rottler of Prescott, Arizona, passed away on Nov. 17, 2024.

Bill was born on July 30, 1944 to Neah and Arthur Rottler in Seattle, Washington. He attended the University of Washington, studying Labor and Industrial Relations, and was an avid Husky fan the rest of his life.

He worked in human resources for his whole career, and was Vice President of Industrial Relations for Smurfit-Stone Container for over twenty years, and was a long-time resident of Naperville, IL.

His true passions were family, friends and travel. He was a constant presence at holidays, reunions and special events for his mother Neah, sister Becky (and favorite brother-in-law Doug), brother Doug, and nieces/nephews Tamara, David, Lisa, Christy, Brian and Eric, as well as his grand nieces and nephews. He loved the simple pleasures of visiting with his neighbor Emily, her husband Dick, and having breakfast with his Prescott friends.

He traveled far and wide. Throughout his life he would travel to root on his Huskies at football bowl games and basketball “March Madness” games. After retiring, he would go on annual overseas trips, particularly enjoying Slovenia and Croatia, Morocco, Normandy, Africa, and Argentina and the Chilean fjords. He explored Spain and Portugal, Sicily and the Dalmation Coast. He also loved the Pacific Northwest and Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents Neah and Art, and brother Doug Rottler.

He is survived by his sister Rebecca (Becky) Andersen (and husband Doug), nieces and nephews Tamara Alonzo (and husband Andy, and kids Joaquin and Sophia), Lisa Rottler (and kids Sarah Kittredge and Ashley Casado), David Rottler (and son William), Christyne Marten (and sons Milos and Antonin), Brian Andersen (and wife Kristen, and kids Jack, Sophie and Luke), and Eric Andersen (and wife Krista, and sons David and Charlie). And he will be especially missed by his constant companion, Kato the cat.

A celebration of life will be held in the coming months at a location TBD. If you wish to attend please contact Brian Andersen at bandersen@yahoo.com.
