As the confetti settles and the echoes of champagne corks fade, Burienites step into 2024 with a fresh start and renewed hope.

Alongside resolutions for personal growth, a toast should be raised to another vital element of our community fabric – true local journalism, and the stories that bind us together.

In Burien, that cornerstone of professional news reporting takes the form of The B-Town (Burien) Blog, celebrating its 16th year as a multiple award-winning, independent, family-run “hyperlocal” news website. From the triumphs of our small businesses to the quiet heroes making a difference, since 2007 The B-Town Blog has shined a spotlight on what makes Burien truly special, always adhering to professional journalism ethics as per the Society of Professional Journalists.

2023 Was a Big Year

This past year, our website navigated the twists and turns of our collective journey, including a re-design, a new logo and major re-launch in January, 2023. From heartwarming profiles of local heroes, coverage of local government and politics, crime, an important local election year and more, The B-Town Blog served as the leading platform for 500,000 users(!) over 2023 (as per Google Analytics; see below). This is by far the best, most engaged and affordable audience in South King County (email vtheresa@comcast.net for our excellent advertising rates):

Analytics

  • Users: 499,768 overall (per month: 41,647)
  • Sessions: 932,537 overall (per month: 77,711)
  • Pageviews: 1,289,437 overall (per month: 107,453)

Looking ahead, the blank page of 2024 beckons with the promise of new narratives. The B-Town Blog pledges to continue its commitment to uncovering the unsung heroes and stories that make Burien tick. We aim to be a bridge between neighbors, a platform for dialogue, and a champion for the issues that matter most to our community.

In this digital age, where information can swirl like unverified confetti in a social media blizzard, local journalism serves as a compass, guiding us back to the truth of what matters. The B-Town Blog is more than just a news source – we’re a conversation starter, a community builder, local leader and a testament to the enduring power of local journalism since 2007.

So, as we raise a glass to 2024, let’s also raise a toast to the local journalists who give a voice to our town, to the platforms that connect us, and to the stories that remind us of why Burien is a place we’re proud to call home. Happy New Year, Burien, and here’s to another year of shared stories, strong connections, and the ever-evolving narrative of The B-Town Blog!
