Highline High School will celebrate its 100-year anniversary with the unveiling of a Centennial Mural created by student artists on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 5 p.m. in the HHS Commons.

The mural honors the generations of students, staff, and community members who have been part of Highline’s legacy since 1925.

“This mural celebrates all of the amazing students, staff and community members who have made Highline such an amazing place since 1925,” organizers said in an invitation to the event.

The unveiling is part of a larger CTE/Arts Showcase, which runs from 3 to 7 p.m. The showcase is the school’s annual end-of-year event presenting student creative work, including visual art, music, drama, documentaries, and live performances.

Event Schedule:

  • 3 – 4:30 p.m.: Student Run workshops  (Ceramics, Visual Arts, Woods, Computers)
  • 3 – 6 p.m.: Art Show featuring Ceramics, Visual Arts and Photography students’ work in the library
  • 3 – 6 p.m.: Photo Booth – Commons area 
  • 4 – 4:30 p.m.: Drama Numbers from musical in Black Box Theater
  • 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Music every half hour in the theater:
    • 4:30 p.m.: Guitar Ensemble
    • 5:00 p.m.: Mariachi Band (after mural reveal)
    • 5:30 p.m.: Orchestra
    • 6:00 p.m.: Jazz Band
    • 6:30 p.m.: Band
  • 3 – 6 p.m.: Film Festival in the 2500 wing
  • 5 p.m.: HHS Centennial Mural unveiling/reception in Commons area
  • 5:15 p.m.: Food will be served

Admission is free and open to the public.

The mural and showcase together highlight Highline’s commitment to fostering creativity and honoring its rich history through student engagement.

  1. Cool! I helped paint a centennial mural on the wall of HHS back in 1977. I’m sure it’s covered up by now….but the memory remains.
