The Kennedy Catholic Lancers showcased their football prowess in a commanding 49-7 victory over the Richland Bombers during the first round of the WIAA Class 4A state football playoffs at Highline Memorial Stadium on Friday night, Nov. 15, 2024.

Despite striking first with a 30-yard touchdown pass in the opening quarter, the Bombers struggled to maintain momentum against Kennedy Catholic’s dominant defense.

The Lancers (11-0) responded early, scoring 15 points in the first quarter. Quarterback Devon Forehand connected with Biaggio Morella for a 30-yard touchdown pass, followed by a successful two-point conversion run by Indiana Jones, establishing a 15-7 lead.

Kennedy’s defense stifled Richland (7-4) after the initial – and only TD – by the Bombers, turning turnovers into scores and blowing up just about every Bomber offensive drive.

The Lancers’ offense continued to dominate, adding 14 points in the second quarter, seven in the third, and 13 in the fourth, culminating in the decisive win.

With this victory, Kennedy Catholic advances to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs, maintaining their undefeated record.

They will face their next opponent on Friday, Nov. 22, with the matchup details to be announced – see the WIAA brackets here.

Lancers #21 Kael Copeland scores an 18-yard rushing TD in the 3rd quarter.
