The Kennedy Catholic High School Lancers varsity football team will face off against the Richland High Bombers in a home playoff game this Friday night, Nov. 15, 2024, as part of the first round of 2024 WIAA Washington State Championships for 4A football.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Highline Memorial Stadium in Burien.

The Lancers are the #4 seed, and have an impressive 10-0 overall record for the season, while the Bombers are #13 at 7-3.

Kennedy is ranked 7th in the state, while Richland is ranked 24th.

Over their 10-game season, the Lancers averaged 46.2 points per game, while the Bombers averaged 34.3 points, so watch for an exciting, high-scoring matchup.

This game marks a significant step for Kennedy in the WIAA state tournament, as the team competes for a chance to advance in the three rounds of the 2024 championship bracket with hopes of reaching the big final game set for Saturday, Dec. 7 at Husky Stadium:

According to Wikipedia, Richland’s unusual mascot is the “Bombers,” officially named for the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress built in Seattle, but also in recognition of the city’s contributions as an “Atomic City” in World War 2. Nearby Hanford was home to the Manhattan Project’s B Reactor, the first full-scale plutonium production reactor in the world.
