King County Fire District No. 2 will bring its newly upgraded Children’s Fire Safety House to 10 Highline Public Schools elementary schools and four private schools throughout October, teaching children the importance of planning and practicing how to escape a fire at home.

The school visits began at Hazel Valley Elementary, where the district reported a successful first stop.

The upgrade comes after more than 30 years of service for the Children’s Fire Safety House, according to the district.

The program emphasizes having a home escape plan and practicing it regularly.
