The Washington State Patrol is reporting that a 44-year-old man was killed after being struck by a truck on SR 518 in Burien early Friday morning, Feb. 2. Troopers say that the driver of the suspect truck that struck the man left the scene. According to Trooper Rick Johnson, the hit-and-run happened just before 2 a.m. on the eastbound SR 518 onramp from Des Moines Memorial Way (map below). Johnson said that a black 1996 Chevrolet Blazer was disabled and on the side of the road when a truck drove onto the on-ramp eastbound and struck a man who was standing outside the Blazer’s passenger door. The suspect truck continued eastbound on SR 518, and is still at large. A passenger who was sitting in the Blazer was not injured. Troopers add that the suspect’s vehicle has several toolboxes, a winch, and will have heavy damage on the driver’s side. It also lost a load of rugby equipment (see photo below).
