The construction of White Center’s new Evergreen High School continues to take shape, with brick siding and window panes now visible across much of the campus.

The design – inspired by the school’s natural surroundings – incorporates dark brick that mirrors the bark of evergreen trees and glazed green bricks that reflect the needles and leaves of the nearby forest.

In addition to the eye-catching exterior work, paving and final touches are being completed this month on the new student parking lot. Other significant construction milestones reached in August include:

  • Sidewalk repairs and electrical work on 116th Street
  • Roof panel formation for the south Activities building
  • Installation of cabinets, drawers, and bookcases on the first level of the north Classroom building
  • Ongoing brickwork on the exterior of the north building
  • Concrete pouring for outdoor learning stairs in the central courtyard

Construction is proceeding at a steady pace, despite delays caused by water vandalism earlier this year. Crews are working extended hours to make up for lost time, and an assessment of the damage is ongoing.
