Developers behind the new Merrill Gardens Senior Housing and Pillar Properties apartments – both being built on SW 150th near Burien Town Square – gave a sneak peek hardhat tour this week, and BTB Publisher Scott Schaefer was there to take some pics.
As we’ve previously reported, both of these new projects are being developed with Legacy Partners. The four story Merrill Gardens will have a total of 126 senior apartments and 70 parking spaces, and the six-sory Pillar Properties apartments will have 228 apartments and 248 parking spaces.
Construction is expected to be completed by late this summer, with a projected fall opening.
Fifty deposits have already been made on the senior housing, and developers announced that they will be hiring staff soon.
At one point, Burien City Councilmembers Bob Edgar, Debi Wagner, Lucy Krakowiak and Nancy Tosta were told to separate into different hardhat tours, in order to avoid accidentally creating a quorum.
Phase One of the Town Square development opened in 2009 with a library/city hall combination, along with the Town Square condo-retail complex, which has 124 units.
