Friday night (May 25), the Highline High Pirates played their hearts out against Burlington-Edison in a play-off soccer game to see who would advance to the championship round. The Pirates lost 1-0 after giving up one goal in the first half to a free kick that was given to Burlington-Edison, which was the only point scored in this intense game full of flying players and aggressive play. The Pirates did an incredible job, never giving up hope until the last play of the game. Several attempts were made on goal, it was just not their night to have one go in. As the goalie has said in the past, “Some nights are just that way. Next game will be ours.” Click images to view larger versions/slideshow: The Pirates beat Franklin Pierce 3-0 on Saturday, May 26 at Sunset Stadium in Sumner.
