Kennedy Catholic High School’s Lancers varsity football team fell to the Bothell Cougars, 33-28 in a close, non-conference home opener on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2025 at Highline Memorial Stadium.

The Lancers showed grit and resilience throughout the match, but couldn’t quite catch the Cougars, who surged ahead early, scoring 27 of their 33 points in the first half.

Bothell now improves to 1-0, while the Lancers drop to 0-1 on the season.

Game Highlights

  • The Cougars scored 7 points in the first quarter and erupted for 20 more in the second.
  • Kennedy Catholic answered Bothell’s lead with a key 24-yard aerial touchdown, closing the gap to 20–14.
  • Kennedy narrowed the deficit further with a 4th-quarter 9-yard passing touchdown and two-point conversion, bringing the score to 33–22.
  • A final Lancer touchdown closed the gap to 33–28, capping a strong two TD 4th-quarter push to come within a single score.

These plays underscore Kennedy Catholic’s resilience and flashes of explosive offense throughout the contest, even in a narrow 33–28 loss.

The football Lancers now turn their attention to a trip to Sumner for another non-league matchup next Friday, Sept. 12 with a 7 p.m. kick-off. The Sumner Spartans also enter that game with a 0-1 record.
