On Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, NAIOP Washington partnered with Mary’s Place in Burien for a day of community service to provide upgrades and maintenance to their Family Center.

NAIOP said that over 400 members, representing over 60 sponsors, volunteered to help with projects like landscaping, fencing, painting, weatherizing, and improvements and upgrades to appliances, furniture, and handicap accessibility.

The organization also supplied Mary’s Place clients with tickets to events in Seattle for the day while they worked on improvements to the site.

Mary’s Place cares for children with life-threatening illnesses and serves almost 360,000 meals a year from their new Burien location, where NAIOPWA focused their efforts this year. Mary’s Place provides safe, inclusive shelter and services that support women, children and families on their journey out of homelessness. They keep struggling families together, inside, and safe when they have no place else to go, providing shelter, services, resources, community, and hope.

“The site perfectly embodies NAIOPWA’s Community Enhancement Mission; we look forward to working with them to support the amazing work they do in our community,” organizers said in a statement.
