Burien Police / King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that one of its deputies recently happened upon a speeding car that turned out to be stolen:

Well, the rightful owner of this stolen vehicle has now inherited quite a banged up mess.

On Feb. 8, 2021 at 10 p.m., a King County deputy was driving westbound on SR 518 near the city of Burien when a white vehicle passed him traveling over 90 miles per hour.

As the deputy turned on his lights and attempted to catch up with the car, he noticed it weaving in and out of traffic, almost striking slower vehicles. In an attempt to elude capture, the driver turned onto the northbound ramp to SR 509. Due to the high rate of speed, the vehicle hit the guardrail which caused it to spin out. The vehicle continued driving northbound on the freeway but, because of the damage, the vehicle slowed down and eventually stopped.

The deputy instructed the driver to get out of the vehicle. He complied and was immediately taken into custody. A run of the license plate showed that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Renton. The suspect admitted stealing the car when he saw it running unattended with the keys inside.

The male was booked into the King County Jail on charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.
