UPDATE June 18, 2025, 3:50 p.m.: The number of customers without power in the Burien/Tukwila area has dropped to approximately 3,717 from 7,381 customers, but Seattle City Light crews are still working to determine the cause of the outage, which began just before 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
According to an update posted eight minutes prior to 4 p.m., utility officials now estimate power will be restored by 6:41 p.m. Wednesday, June 18.
The outage continues to impact neighborhoods spanning parts of Tukwila, and near Sea-Tac Airport.
Seattle City Light lists the cause as “Investigating” and confirmed that the issue began at 1:59 p.m.
Restoration crews remain dispatched across the affected area.

More than 7,300 Seattle City Light customers in Burien, SeaTac and Tukwila were without power Wednesday afternoon, June 18, 2025 as crews worked to investigate the cause of a large-scale outage.
According to Seattle City Light’s outage map, the outage began at approximately 1:59 p.m. on June 18 and affected an estimated 7,381 customers.
The outage extends across a wide area stretching from Three Tree Point, Gregory Heights and Sunnydale in Burien on the west, then jumps east to SeaTac, then north to Riverton Heights, Foster and other neighborhoods in Tukwila.
The utility reported that crews had been dispatched and were investigating the cause of the disruption.
As of 3:02 p.m., the utility estimated that power would be restored by 8:56 p.m. Wednesday.
No specific cause had been identified.

What caused the outage? Any speculation as of this time?
Seattle Times is saying it was a tree/branch fall on a power line.
We keep gerting these power outtages in the same area wveey couple of months without explanation. It would be nice to know as working remotely has now become difficult.
