A raging, three-alarm fire ripped through a home in Burien’s Three Tree Point neighborhood late Friday afternoon, Mar. 7, 2025, prompting a large multi-agency response as firefighters battled intense flames.

The 911 dispatch went out at 4:52 p.m., around 27 units responded, and nearby streets were closed for the staging of emergency vehicles.

Fire officials said both residents escaped the burning home with the help of concerned neighbors and were transported to hospitals for evaluation.

A neighbor who called 911 told The B-Town Blog that she first noticed the blaze when she saw black smoke coming out of the home’s front door. She also said that one of the residents may have suffered burns, and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Their current conditions have not yet been disclosed.

Thankfully, neighboring homes suffered minimal damage given the amount of fire that was present.

Intense Flames and Structural Hazards

According to first responders, crews arrived to find heavy fire consuming the home, with flames and black smoke visible miles away.

“Photos and videos shared with us before our arrival showed a massive amount of fire,” King County Fire District #2 Fire Marshal Ray Desmarais told The B-Town Blog. “When a three-alarm fire is called, we have to rely on our neighboring agencies to provide assistance, and last night was no exception.”

Firefighters remained at the scene throughout the night, conducting fire watch to ensure hot spots did not reignite. Due to structural integrity concerns, some parts of the home were inaccessible, delaying full extinguishment efforts until Saturday morning.

Protecting Surrounding Homes and Water Runoff Concerns

Despite the intensity of the blaze, fire officials said nearby homes suffered only minimal damage.

Crews also had to manage water runoff to prevent additional property damage (which can be seen in the video below around the 1:27 mark).

“This was one of those responses where multiple considerations had to be made,” Desmarais said. “A water runoff team was deployed to regulate runoff and keep it from reaching neighboring properties.”

Investigation to Begin Soon

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with the King County Fire Investigation Unit set to begin its probe on Saturday.

“There were a lot of hands on deck, and a lot of good work done to keep this fire from spreading,” Desmarais said.

A full report on the fire’s cause and damage assessment is expected in the coming days.

“When a three alarm fire is called we have to rely on our neighboring agencies to provide assistance, so a big thank you to all the neighboring fire departments that came in last night to help out,” Desmarais added.
