Rats-Header-FY15-2 Registration is now open for the 4th annual ‘Ride Around The Sound,’ a fundraiser bike ride for the American Lung Association, to be held on Saturday, Sept. 19. The ride will run from the Seattle area – including a Normandy Park start – to Bremerton. The Early Bird Rate of $35 has been EXTENDED to July 31. Here’s a map of the 73-mile Normandy Park route, which begins at Marvista Park: Screen Shot 2015-07-13 at 1.22.41 PM

“This is one of the most scenic rides of the year. The stunning course hugs the water, provides sweeping views of the sound and takes you through the quaint hamlets of the Puget Sound. We’ve chosen the best routes along mostly quiet roads. Your ride begins in Normandy Park, continues south through Federal Way. An easy loop through Browns Point will land you at the lighthouse for a rest stop with incredible views – definitely a good photo spot. From here you can see where you came from and where you are going. Look closely and you will see Gig Harbor across the way. Mt. Rainier becomes your guide as you make your way to Tacoma and its industrial port of towering ships. Then we turn towards downtown and through the older enchanting neighborhoods en route to a relaxing lunch stop. After lunch, the course crosses the famed Tacoma Narrows Bridge as you begin your route on the Kitsap Peninsula. The Kitsap Peninsula offers spectacular views, rolling hills, coastal hamlets and, surprisingly, camels. First you will make your way to Gig Harbor, a little inlet town with calm waters. From there you will head inland towards the long lake and rolling, gentle hills of the peninsula on your way to Port Orchard with views of the naval yard. Our way to the finish follows the Sinclair Inlet and around to Bremerton. A quick and gentle climb into Historic Bremerton and its downtown leads to our finish line on the waters edge. The American Lung Association saves lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy. Ride, donate to a rider, or volunteer to support the Fight For Air and help combat pollution, stand up to big tobacco, and stand by loved ones with asthma, lung cancer, COPD, and all lung disease. This one-day, fully-supported fundraising ride is perfect as a personal challenge or with a team of any experience level. Choose your Start, and meet at the finish in Bremerton for a catered celebration just a few steps from the ferry. Join us in the fight against lung disease -  REGISTER TODAY!
