Community members can visit Cascade, Chinook or Sylvester middle schools or CHOICE Academy this October to see how the buildings serve students today and learn about projects proposed in Highline Public Schools’ Nov. 3 school construction bond.

Most tours take place during the school day, giving you a chance to see learning spaces in use and how students and staff use the buildings each day. You’ll also learn about current building conditions, hear what the bond would fund if approved by voters and have time for questions.

Highline voters will consider two measures on the Nov. 3 ballot:

  • A school construction bond.
  • A separate four-year capital technology levy.

The school tours focus on the major school projects included in the construction bond.

The small-group, informational tours are open to everyone, including community members who do not have students in Highline schools.

Advance registration is required. Because most tours take place while school is in session, each tour is limited to 10 participants to help minimize disruption to students and staff. Each person must register separately. Registration closes two business days before each tour or when it fills. If a tour is full, you will be added to the waitlist. We will contact people in order if a spot opens.

About the School Construction Bond & Technology Levy

Highline’s school construction bond and technology levy would fund facility and technology needs for students across Highline. The school construction bond would replace aging neighborhood schools, improve safety and accessibility, and update learning spaces to support current 21st-century learning.

The bond package includes:

  • Replace Sylvester and Cascade middle schools
  • Address critical needs such as roof replacements and new heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) systems at schools districtwide
  • Provide funding to design a new Hilltop Elementary and Valley View Early Learning Center
  • Rebuild the Southern Heights site to serve CHOICE Academy
  • Complete a partial rebuild and major renovation at Chinook Middle School

The technology levy would resume local funding for technology systems used for instruction, communication, cybersecurity, school operations and student services.
