Burien Arts will be presenting ‘Richard II’ as part of its 2017 Shakespeare in the Park series on Saturday, Aug. 5 at Lake Burien School Memorial Park. The outdoor performance will run from 7 – 9 p.m., and there is no charge. Bring your picnic and chair!

King Richard II has a short and troubled reign; he’s often indecisive and at other times abrupt and arbitrary, not always good ways to win friends and allies. His clumsy handling of a dispute between two Dukes, one his cousin, splits the kingdom and sets Richard on the path to downfall. It’s the first play in Shakespeare’s eight-play, double-tetralogy of history plays chronicling the reigns of Richard II, Henry’s IV, V and VI, and culminating with Richard III. Directed by Susannah Rose Woods.
