A Burien Police deputy arrested a man Wednesday morning, May 20, after the suspect allegedly admitted he possessed fentanyl and intended to distribute the drug in downtown Burien, according to police.

Police said the arrest happened during an area check conducted by a deputy in the downtown core.

According to the Burien Police Department, the deputy observed a man who appeared to be in possession of narcotics.

After contacting the individual, the man admitted he was carrying fentanyl and intended to distribute it, police said.

The suspect was arrested and transported to jail. Charges will be forwarded to the King County Prosecutor, according to police.

“The Burien Police Department remains committed to proactively addressing drug activity in our community and keeping our neighborhoods safe,” the department said in a statement.
