Zaire H.M. Orr – an 18-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Auburn – was arrested in Burien on Friday, Mar. 14, 2025, after police tracked him to a residence in the city.

The arrest follows a weeks-long investigation into an attempted robbery that turned deadly in early February.

According to charging documents from the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the suspect and two juvenile accomplices lured McKinley Williams, 18, and a 17-year-old to an apartment complex parking lot in Auburn under the guise of a marijuana sale. Prosecutors say the meeting quickly turned into an armed robbery, and Williams was shot in the side of the head as he and the 17-year-old attempted to escape in their vehicle.

The 17-year-old, who was unharmed, immediately called 911 and tried to provide aid to Williams, but sadly he succumbed to his injuries and died the following day.

“The defendant is accused of killing a teenager over a small amount of marijuana,” a Senior Deputy Prosecutor wrote in the court filing.

Charging documents also claim that this was a planned and premeditated attack, set up at a public location, and the victim was executed while attempting to flee.

Tracked to Burien

Following an extensive investigation, authorities traced the suspect to a residence on SW 118th Street in Burien. Officers moved in and arrested him on Mar. 14 without incident. He was booked into the King County Jail, and prosecutors have charged him with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree robbery.

The suspect is being held on $3 million bail due to concerns about flight risk and public safety. Prosecutors noted that he has ties to other states and could attempt to flee.

A Second Arrest Expected

Court filings indicate that a second juvenile suspect – who is 16 years old – has also been charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree robbery. Law enforcement officials say he was also armed during the crime and played a role in setting up the robbery.

Both suspects, if convicted, could face life in prison, though sentencing laws for juveniles differ from those for adults.

What’s Next?

Prosecutors are requesting electronic home monitoring if either suspect posts bail. They are also pushing for an expedited trial due to the severity of the charges.

Both defendants are expected in court next week for arraignment.

Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in court.
