theater simple will perform a FREE, all-ages outdoor performance inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice stories at Westcrest Park on Saturday, July 25, offering a free park adventure for families from Burien and surrounding South King County communities.
The event, WONDERLAND: Alice Adventures, is scheduled for about 2:15 p.m. at Westcrest Park, 9000 8th Ave. SW, in the Highland Park neighborhood of south West Seattle (map below). Specifically, it BEGINS in the bowl/meadow just south of the playground, between the reservoir and the P-Patch, west of the dog park.
Theater Simple says the experience is accessible, has no age or ability limitations, and will move throughout the park.
The company describes the event as a chance to follow White Rabbits, play croquet with the Queen of Hearts, sing and skip with the Tweedles, dance the Lobster Quadrille with the Gryphon and the Mock Turtle, explore a tiny house, draw what participants see and lay on a flower bed to be read to.
Theater Simple said dogs are welcome if kept on short leashes. It also said attendees should bring a parasol and picnic and noted the event will go on rain or shine.
The company said it is often made up of Llysa Holland and Andrew Litzky and has produced theatrical experiences in Seattle and around the world since 1991. Theater Simple said its headquarters has been in a vintage Airstream trailer in Highland Park since 2010.
