There’s a new Sheriff in town – Mitzi G. Johanknecht was sworn in as the new leader of the King County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Johanknecht is a 33-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, with much time spent as Commander of Burien Precinct 4. KCSO contracts its police services to Burien.

She defeated Sheriff John Urquhart in the November election.
