A semitruck traveling northbound on I-5 near the S. 178th Street overpass in Tukwila left the roadway and crashed early Sunday morning, July 7, 2024.

The truck – which was filled with vegetables – veered onto the right shoulder, crashing through the guardrail before striking an overpass column and coming to rest in a ditch.

The accident resulted in the closure of the right two lanes of I-5 for 11 hours and 44 minutes, causing significant delays for motorists. Authorities advised drivers to seek alternate routes during the closure.

The driver of the truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
