Halloween enthusiasts and trick-or-treaters of all ages in Burien are once again flocking to a home at the corner of SW 135th Street and 8th Ave SW in the Chelsea Park neighborhood (map below) — a yard that’s become known locally as “The Burien Cemetery.”
This year, we filmed and edited an exclusive video tour of the display (included below), capturing eerie details of what may be the spookiest yard in B-Town.
Located on a quiet residential corner, this is a chilling, demented, Disneyesque attraction, drawing curious families and brave thrill-seekers alike. Visitors are greeted by life-sized skeletons, gruesome zombies, and animated horror characters triggered by motion sensors set in realistic graveyard scenes.
Among the most unsettling sights are skeletal limbs reaching from the ground, a glowing red-eyed growling wolf man, a little, screaming girl bending over backwards, and motion-activated ghouls and others that come alive when guests get too close (you’ve been warned!). The effect is equal parts terrifying and impressive — a mix of artistry, dedication, and great Halloween fun.
Neighbors say the display has become a Chelsea Park tradition, with crowds stopping nightly for photos and shrieks. The “Burien Cemetery” is expected to remain open for viewing through Halloween night, rain or shine.
Hats (and heads and assorted limbs) off to the owners and decorators of this incredible display!
- WARNING: Young kids may find some of the decorations a bit too scary.
