The Burien Three Tree Quilters are very proud to share their quilted creations with the community, and through the end of March exterior windows of Merrill Gardens will display over 60 items ranging from potholders and purses to large wall hangings and full-sized quilts.

One window will even display all the material items needed to make a quilt. It’s impossible to show the love, patience and time required.

The organization has been in existence for over 23 years, starting out as a group of eight meeting in members’ homes in the Three Tree Point area. Over the years life changes and added members have grown the group to 29, no longer fitting in a private residence. The quilters now meet monthly at St. Elizabeth’s Church in the west end of Olde Burien. Meetings are informal and always include needed social time. Many new friendships have been forged through Burien Three Tree Quilters. Programs/activities include presentations by outside professionals, member demonstrations and sharing of quilting skills.

An on-going charity for the organization is the Birthing Center at CHI Franciscan Hospital. Throughout the year members make quilts for newborn infants. These are given to the hospital where they are then distributed to families needing warm and cozy blankets for their babies.

Whether you have a curious interest or life-long passion for quilting, you are invited to join the group. Meetings are the first Thursday of each month, 1 p.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, located at 1005 SW 152nd Street.
