A windstorm that was continuing on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, knocking out power to hundreds of Seattle City Light customers in the Burien area.

As of Noon on Tuesday, City Light said that there were around 700 customers still without power.

Most outages were attributed to tree/vegetation, most likely caused by the gusty storm.

The National Weather Service also issued a Coastal Flood Advisory as well as Wind Advisory, warning of gusts up to 50mph:

* WHAT…Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* WHERE…Everett and Vicinity, Tacoma Area, Bellevue and Vicinity and Seattle and Vicinity.

* WHEN…Until 10 PM PST this evening.

* IMPACTS…Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
