On Tuesday morning (July 18), SW 152nd Street was closed between 1st and 2nd Ave SW to install the new ‘Downtown Burien’ arch, which was lifted by a crane into place where a previous arch was located:
As we previously reported, the previous arch was destroyed by a crane truck on Feb. 10, 2016.
The cost to replace the arch is $390,000, and is paid for by an insurance claim from the truck company.

Why do I suddenly have the theme from 2001 in my head?
I hear you on the font, So grateful to have a dedicated communications person to help with coordinating all the emerging stuff so it’s cohesive.(I realize that we’re going for an old timey look of sorts on the “main street”.) Glad it is a more visible color than the black that tended to fade into the grill on the back. (White? Silver?)
I understand that is electricity is available in the structure for future lighting possibilities. (including accent & holiday lighting) Start thinking potential designs Maureeâ„ï¸ï¸â€
It’s never too early to discuss potential holiday/seasonal decorations! 🙂 I have a fondness for retro old school tinsel snow and tree shapes and such, because nostalgia from my childhood. Or simple banners with fall leaves etc.
