Burien Police / King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a shoplifter who stole merchandise from a store was eventually caught and busted while riding on a bus:

Police say that on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020 at 4:35 p.m., Burien Police officers were dispatched to a store in the 1000 block of SW 129th Street (map below). Burien is a contract city and partner of the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Dispatch advised that a male had loaded up a suitcase with stolen merchandise and left the store.

When deputies arrived, a passerby advised them the suspect had boarded a bus headed southbound on Ambaum Blvd. SW. Deputies caught up to the bus in the 12900 block, where they boarded the bus and spotted the suspect, who still had the suitcase with him. The man was detained.

The suspect was brought back to the store, along with the stolen merchandise, and it was determined that the total amount of stolen merchandise was $119.75.

The suspect was positively identified by store security. He was arrested and booked in to SCORE (South Correctional Entity) jail for investigation on Theft in the Third Degree.
