Burien Police / King County Sheriff’s Office are asking ‘Are batteries and butane lighters really worth a potential criminal conviction?’:

Police say that on Aug. 30, 2020 at 6:42 a.m., its 9-1-1 communications center received a phone call about a broken front window at a business in the 200 block of SW 152 Street in Burien (map below), which is a contract city and partner with the King County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived on scene it was noted that the lower parts of glass adjacent to the east entry door was shattered. It is suspected that a rock was used to break the glass parts but no rock was immediately found. Deputies entered the store and made sure there were no suspects inside.

The manager arrived and reviewed surveillance footage with the deputies. The video revealed that a male entered the store around 4:00 a.m., and headed straight to the register area. He can be seen taking batteries and butane lighters from the open displays.

Several checks of the area were conducted, however at that time deputies were unable to locate the suspect.
