Another fire burned at Transform Burien’s Sunnydale location at around midnight on Saturday night, May 4, 2024.

This is the second fire at the local nonprofit in less than three weeks – as we previously reported, on April 18, 2024, a fire burned the organization’s clothing bank, forcing the closure of the building.

But unlike the previous fire, Transform Burien did not have to close due to this one.

There were no injuries or damage to the building.

The cause under investigation by the King County Fire Investigation Unit.

“Outside of there being no active flame to extinguish on firefighters arrival, and only smoke to exhaust from the building, no other details are available at this time until the investigative report is completed,” said Ray Desmarais, Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal for King County Fire District #2.

Since 2007, The B-Town Blog is Burien’s multiple award-winning hyperlocal news/events website dedicated to independent journalism.

  1. Wow! This is scary. I would be very interested in knowing what is found about the cause. Never heard any information about the cause of the first fire. We need the services provided for the community by Transform Burien and we need the building to be safe for staff, volunteers and residents who obtain many services there.
