A bigger group of people peacefully protesting the recent police killing of George Floyd showed up to the Burien Farmers Market near City Hall on Thursday, June 4, 2020.

The group of around 12 was organized by the Burien Moms Facebook group.

“I wanted a place locally to gather with our children where we can show our support for the POC (People Of Color) in our community,” organizer Anna Nixon told The B-Town Blog. “There were many people showing their support with honks and hoots while driving by, and some who didn’t, and that’s okay. The purpose was to show support and bring awareness to a problem that is continually not being fixed.”

The group stood outside the Burien Farmers Market and city hall.

Anna added that they had a few non-supporters confront them, but not in a violent matter. “Mainly stating that ‘All Lives Matter, we should look at the numbers’ (I’m not sure what that was supposed to mean), and calling names.”

Anna says that they also had a person join the protest who was just there for the farmers market.

Burien Press donated beverages, and a random walker by dropped off a case of water, granola bars, and sunscreen.

Above is a picture of Anna’s wife and daughter, a same-sex interracial couple with a biracial child.
