Burien Police and the King County Bomb Disposal Unit responded Wedneday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2026 to a report of a suspicious package found in a residential garage in the 2200 block of SW 149th Street in the Seahurst neighborhood (map below).

Police said a cleaning crew discovered the package while working at the residence and reported it to authorities.

Deputies secured the area and blocked pedestrian traffic while the bomb disposal unit was called to investigate, according to the department.

The King County Bomb Disposal Unit identified the item as an improvised explosive device (IED) and confiscated it, rendering it safe at the scene, police said.

Police said there was no threat to the public during the incident.
