A “suspicious package” was found Tuesday morning, Dec. 22, 2020, outside the Burien Fred Meyer store.

Officers were dispatched to a suspicious package in front of the store, located at 14300 1st Ave South shortly after 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Police said the package was “rendered safe” and that “Fred Meyer will be returning to normal operations shortly.”

Based on the package appearance and location, police closed and evacuated the Fred Meyer store, as well as parking areas and nearby businesses.

King County Sheriff deployed their Bomb Disposal Unit to address the package safely.

Traffic was restricted in the area during the incident, but roads and stores should all be opened now.
