Burien Police / King County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting at the Fred Meyer located at 14300 1st Ave S. in Burien on Wednesday night, Oct. 11, 2023.

Police said the 911 call came in at approximately 8 p.m.

The male victim was located by arriving KCSO deputies along with local aid units.

The victim was treated on-scene, then transported to Harborview Medical Center. 

OCT. 12 UPDATE From Ray Desmarais, Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal for King County Fire District #2:

“Fire crews contacted an approximately 21-year-old male subject after he had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper right portion of his chest. On arrival the patient was found bandaged already by the police officers on scene. He was able to speak in full sentences and walk to the stretcher for evaluation. Paramedics with King County Medic 1 made the decision to transport the patient to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.”

Police said that the incident is in the early stages of investigation by patrol deputies with a standard consultation with detectives.

No suspect was detained or under arrest at this time.

The City of Burien contracts police services through the King County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the incident.
