On the agenda for Monday’s (April 27) Burien City Council Study session: potential revisions to council meeting rules and a discussion of the city’s upcoming budget planning process.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Burien City Hall, and can be viewed live on Comcast TV Channel 21, via Zoom here and via live-stream here.
The first major discussion will focus on Burien’s City Council Rules of Order, which were last adopted Jan. 29, 2024. Interim City Attorney Ann Marie Soto is listed as the staff contact for the item.
Councilmembers previously asked to revisit the rules during meetings in February, and the April 27 study session will allow members to offer additional feedback before staff draft revisions for a future regular meeting. Staff recommends incorporating feedback for a May 18 business agenda review.
The second major agenda item is a discussion of the City of Burien budget plan and timing. The item will be presented by Rod Steitzer, public works director and acting city manager; Casey Headley, finance director; and Devin Chicras, communications and public engagement manager.
