A man was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 10 after allegedly stealing a vehicle at gunpoint and leading deputies on a pursuit through Burien, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said a Burien deputy was taking a report from the victim, who said their car had been taken at gunpoint earlier in the morning and that they did not call police until several hours after the carjacking. While gathering information, the deputy broadcast the stolen vehicle’s license plate.

Another deputy spotted the vehicle traveling north on Ambaum Blvd. SW near SW 128th Street and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit, deputies said.

Deputies used legal intervention techniques to stop the car, and the suspect was taken into custody without injury. The vehicle was impounded, and investigators plan to seek a search warrant to recover the firearm believed to have been used in the carjacking.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail, and prosecutors are preparing charges, according to the sheriff’s office.

  1. “Deputies used legal intervention techniques” I say use every tool and trick available including weapons to stop someone who uses a gun in a violent crime. You play, you pay and you go away, bye.
