King County Fire District No. 2’s Holiday Outreach Program received a significant boost this week with a $4,180 donation from tenants of Burien Town Square (BTS).
This year’s donation, presented on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024 to Capt. George Stoess and Fire Chief Jason Gay by BTS residents David Gould, Mike Thorsen, Peggy Cummings, Bunny Critch, and Pam Harper, represented a remarkable 161% increase from 2023, skyrocketing from $1,600 to an impressive $4,180.
The funds will help provide local families in need with essential supplies and holiday cheer. Each family will receive four large boxes of nonperishable pantry items, paper towels, toilet paper, and two additional boxes of food for a Christmas celebration meal, including a turkey or ham and pumpkin pie. Larger families will receive double portions of pantry staples.
In addition to the food, families will receive $25 gift cards to Fred Meyer, with an extra $25 gift card provided for each child aged 12 and older.
Toys donated by TriMed Ambulance will also bring smiles to children as part of the program.
“It was a great day today for the Holiday Outreach Program with the generous donation from the Burien Town Square!” said Capt. George Stoess, who, alongside Fire Chief Jason Gay, accepted the donation on Monday afternoon at Fire Station #28 in Burien.
The generosity of Burien Town Square residents highlights the spirit of giving within the Burien community, and ensures that dozens of families will enjoy a brighter holiday season.
