A single-car accident occurred at around 8 p.m. on Friday night, July 19, 2024 on SW 156th Street at Maplewild Ave SW in Burien.

Police said that the vehicle collided with a pole and guardrail, resulting in the deployment of airbags.

Despite the severity of the crash, only minor injuries were reported, as the driver and two passengers were both seen walking around, and “looked fine” according to a nearby resident.

“Drivers come down the hill, around the hairpin turn, and then around that sweeping curve, and they’re impatient because they’ve had to slow down,” a nearby resident told The B-Town Blog. “So when they get the straightaway out in front of my house, they go so damn fast!”

Burien Police/King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies responded to the scene along with King County Fire District No. 2 and documented the incident. A request was made for a road crew to repair the damaged guardrail.

“This was one of approximately 30 vehicle accidents reported in KCSO jurisdictions yesterday,” Deputy Mike Mellis told The B-Town Blog..
