The City of Burien announced Monday, Sept. 14 that it is now accepting applications for the city manager position.
As we previously reported, on April 13, the Burien City Council placed then-manager Adolfo Bailon on paid administrative leave. He was officially terminated July 27, 2026.
Bob Larson has been serving as interim city manager since April 28, 2026, and will not be a candidate for the position. The City Council directed Interim City Manager Larson and staff to expedite the search process in July. On Aug. 17, the City hired GMP Consultants to assist in facilitating recruitment.
Selection Expected in November
An event for the community to meet and engage with the finalists is being planned for November, and the council is expected to make a final selection after that.
The salary range is $230,000 to $240,000 annually, depending on qualifications, GMP said.
The first review of applicants is scheduled for Oct. 11, 2026, according to GMP.
