The City of Burien is seeking residents to apply online for positions on temporary committees to support or oppose the proposed City of Burien Initiative Measure No. 24-001, which focuses on labor standards and minimum wages.
Applications for the Pro and Con committees are now available online and will remain open until all positions are filled.
The initiative, which is available for public review online here, will be voted on in an upcoming special election if the City Council moves forward with it.
Members of the pro and con committees will be responsible for drafting statements supporting or opposing the measure for publication in the King County Voters’ Pamphlet.
The Burien City Council is expected to appoint members to both committees at an upcoming meeting. By early December 2024, the Council will consider passing a resolution to request a special election for the initiative.
If interested, please apply online here.
