Tukwila Police Officers responded to a report of a large dispute involving juveniles in the vicinity of Westfield Southcenter Mall on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023.
Police said that some reports indicated that up to three gunshots had been heard, but officials denied that any shots had been fired. They said that the sounds mistaken for shots likely came from metal crowd divider posts falling over, which causes a similar sound.
However, a juvenile male was detained who was in possession of a firearm.
Due to the large number of individuals leaving the area, officers from multiple jurisdictions were requested to assist with safely getting everyone to their vehicles.
