UPDATE 1:30 p.m. Aug. 6, 2019: The King County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that one person died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during an eviction notice serving Tuesday morning (Aug. 6) at an apartment in the 600 block of S. 152 Street in Burien (map below).

Police say that at around 9:10 a.m., a King County Civil Detective went to the apartment to serve eviction paperwork. When the detective knocked on the door, she heard two gunshots from inside the apartment.

Multiple officers responded to the area, including the Crisis Negotiation and SWAT teams. The area around the apartment was cordoned off, and neighbors were told to stay inside.

No police officers fired any shots, Sgt. Cynthia Sampson told The B-Town Blog.

“This situation is now stable and we will be working on reopening roads in the next few minutes,” police said. “There will be detectives on the scene for the next few hours conducting the investigation.”

Multiple roadways were closed in the area, impacting traffic.
