The man who was found dead at Moshier Park on July 15, 2025 succumbed to environmental heat exposure and acute ethanol intoxication, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The manner of death has been ruled accidental.

As we previously reported, the victim was identified as 62‑year‑old Scott Donald Richard of Burien.

First responders were dispatched shortly before 6 p.m. to the 4300 block of South 156th  Street near Highline High/Moshier Park for a welfare check.

King County Fire District No. 2 responded and provided medical aid at the scene, but sadly, the man was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

A witness said the victim appeared to be sleeping in a truck near the field, but after attempts to wake him failed, they called for help. Responders later worked on him at the scene but got no response.

King County Sheriff’s Office (Burien PD) led the investigation, which has now concluded that no foul play was involved in Richard’s death.
