The third annual Shoreline Slam High School Tennis Tournament presented by Tennis Center Sand Point was an exciting weekend of competition, attracting over 175 players from almost 40 different high schools from July 24-26.
Last year’s Girls Gold Singles finalist, Katelyn Hoang of Highline High School, claimed the winner’s trophy this year over teammate Cassidy Hill in a 6-4, 6-2 match. Hill and Hoang, the 4th place medallists in 3A State Doubles, then teamed up to claim the Girls Gold Doubles title 6-4, 6-4 over Gemma Robinson and Janie Oswald of Bishop Blanchet.
Xander Gordon, a recent graduate of Shorewood and 4th place medallist in 3A State Singles, returned to reclaim the Boys Gold Singles title with a 6-4, 6-4 win over TJ Raymond from Seattle Prep. Raymond then teamed up with Seattle Prep teammate Ella Smith to claim the Gold Mixed Doubles title 6-3, 6-1 over recent Shorewood graduate Zack Binz and recent Snohomish graduate, Morgan Gibson.
Brandon Liu and Will Madrid, reigning 1A Boys Doubles State Champions from University Prep, took the Boys Gold Doubles title with a 7-6, 6-1 win over Marcus Xu (Glacier Peak) and Ryan Wijaya (Jackson).
“Seeing kids return to compete year after year and just how much they improve is not only deeply rewarding but makes for great tennis to watch,” said Rob Mann, head coach of the Shorecrest High School tennis program
“From seasoned State champions to players competing in their very first tournament, the Slam provides a perfect opportunity for players to compete and build tennis connections,” added Arnie Moreno, head coach of the Shorewood High School tennis program.
“We loved welcoming so many new and familiar faces back to our courts. And we can’t wait to do it all over again at the 4th Annual Shoreline Slam, already scheduled for July 22-25, 2027 – mark your calendars now!” said Leslie Boyd of Shorewood Boosters.
The Shoreline Slam is jointly hosted by the Shorewood and Shorecrest High School tennis programs, with matches played at both Kellogg Middle School and Shorewood High School courts. Attracting athletes from all across Western Washington, the Shoreline Slam provides high school tennis players the chance to compete in the off season against their high school peers. Offering Gold, Silver and Bronze singles, doubles and mixed doubles divisions, the tournament caters to players of all abilities, from reigning State champions to aspiring JV players. The 4th Annual Shoreline Slam will be held from July 22-25, 2027.
