Got some good information during the last roundtable meeting on homelessness as it affects our community, about the vital daytime services that Hospitality House has been providing over the years. According to Hospitality House’s representative, the median age for the 75-80 women per year that they serve is 50-55 years or older and getting older. Increasingly, there are some with dementia issues that need folks from aging services involved. So it was good to see the meeting provide a roundtable helping link service providers together. Auburn’s Mayor’s Task Force presented really good information; the presenter stated that it helped them talk about something that is really difficult to talk about – resources tend to be siloed. They looked at concerns from businesses, the library and schools, and had the biggest community response they had ever had.
