The City of Burien this week announced a new series of events titled “It’s a Wonderful Burien,” which will run from Nov. 30 through Dec. 31, 2019.

Winter lights will illuminate Burien’s Town Square Park every night in December, inspiring people to come to downtown Burien for unique dining, shopping, and seasonal experiences hosted by the City of Burien and community partners.

Here’s the lineup:

The Christmas Spirit: Select dates from Friday, November 29 – Sunday, December 22. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays are at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., Burien Actors Theatre, 14501 4th Ave SW, Burien.
When Death arrives to spirit Julia Dowling to the afterlife, Julia instead wheedles him into joining her for a Christmas party with her family. Julia, who had no such party planned, scrambles to persuade her estranged family to come together on Christmas Day. Old resentments surface, new connections are made, and everyone, even Death, feels the magic of the Christmas spirit. A touching and hilarious look at the things that really make life worth living.

Family Fun Run: Winter Edition: December 6, 5:30 – 8 p.m., Town Square Park, 480 SW 152nd St, Burien.
The City of Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department and Discover Burien are offering a free scavenger hunt style event for runners and walkers of all ages. Holiday attire and colorful lights encouraged!

Moshier Holiday Pottery Sale: December 7, 10 a.m. –3 p.m., Moshier Art Center, 430 S 156th St, Burien.
City of Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is hosting their annual holiday pottery sale. Find hundreds of handmade items such as mugs, bowls, serving dishes, casserole dishes, garden art, jewelry, planters, and more!

The Nutcracker Ballet: December 7, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., Highline Performing Arts Center, 401 S 152nd St, Burien.
Momentum Dance Academy & Ensemble brings the classic tale of Clara and the Nutcracker to life. A holiday treat with lush music, beautiful costumes, and magical dancing.

Las Posadas: December 8, 4 – 6 p.m. Highline Heritage Museum, 819 SW 152nd St, Burien.
A rich Mexican cultural holiday tradition for the whole family featuring the posadas, a special art exhibit, and a mini-pop up mercado of local artists coordinated by Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery. Hosted by Para los Niños and the Highline Heritage Museum.

ChristmasSounds in Burien: December 14, 2 p.m. and December 15, 2 p.m., Highline Performing Arts Center, 401 S 152nd St, Burien.
Northwest Associated Arts proudly presents their annual Christmas tradition, ChristmasSounds in Burien. Five choruses totaling nearly 150 singers, ages 9 to 90, sing in the season, delighting audience members of all ages!
